CNN —Four people are dead, including two children, and one person was critically injured in a stabbing in Far Rockaway, Queens, on Sunday morning, police said. Two police officers were injured responding to the home, where a fire also broke out, and the suspect is dead. The man drew a kitchen steak knife on the officers, stabbing one in the neck and chest, and striking the other in the head, the chief added. One of the officers drew his weapon and fired, killing the suspect, Maddrey said. The stabbing suspect has been identified as a 38-year-old Bronx resident, Kenny said during the news conference.

ALMATY, Oct 28 (Reuters) - At least 21 people have died in a mine fire in Kazakhstan, ArcelorMittal Temirtau (MT.LU), the local unit of the Luxembourg-based steelmaker which operates the mine, said on Saturday. Of the 252 people at the Kostenko mine, 208 had been evacuated, with 18 seeking medical help, the company said in a statement. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who expressed condolences to victims' families, ordered his cabinet to stop investment cooperation with ArcelorMittal Temirtau. The government said in a statement that it was finalising a deal to nationalise the company, which operates the country's biggest steel mill. Last month First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar told reporters that Kazakhstan was in talks with potential investors who could take over the mill.

Lewiston, Maine’s second most-populous city, is a place that once saw its best days in the rearview mirror, is a city that has fought hard to find its light. Lewiston is a hardscrabble hockey town that made room for soccer, a place that understands the meaning and worth of community and the work that goes into making a city into home. We all know places like Lewiston, places where everyone is connected in some way, whether through soccer or something else. “I’ve read more than several posts from people that say that Lewiston is a good place to live,” he said.

Rio reported a 1.2% rise in its third-quarter iron ore shipments, as it ramped up production at the Gudai-Darri mine. It shipped 83.9 mt of iron ore from Pilbara in the September quarter, compared with 82.9 mt a year earlier. The miner, which generates 70% of its profit from its iron ore operations, saw prices of the commodity improve as top consumer China stepped up its stimulus efforts. Rio realised a 5% increase in mined copper output to 169,000 tons, reflecting a ramp-up of high-grade underground Oyu Tolgoi mine and higher feed grades at Escondida.

Providers are scrambling to offer Pfizer's vaccine, Abrysvo, to pregnant patients and Sanofi's monoclonal antibody, Beyfortus, to babies. Until now, the only preventative treatment was another monoclonal antibody called Synagis that's given once a month during RSV season, which generally runs from fall through spring. Sanofi's Beyfortus is a monoclonal antibody that's given directly to babies and provides them with immediate protection. "I know that [RSV]'s a threat to little babies, and so to have an opportunity to prevent illness in the first place is really exciting."
